Blender Movies

Wed Jul 1, 2009, 8:16 PM
These are two great short movies (10 minutes each) that have been made with Blender:

Project Orange - Elephant's Dream
[link]
Elephants Dream is the story of two strange characters exploring a capricious and seemingly infinite machine. The elder, Proog, acts as a tour-guide and protector, happily showing off the sights and dangers of the machine to his initially curious but increasingly skeptical protege Emo. As their journey unfolds we discover signs that the machine is not all Proog thinks it is, and his guiding takes on a more desperate aspect.

Project Peach - Big Buck Bunny (This one was my favourite)

Just check out some of the production photos and screenshots here: [link]

I just thought these were so awesome you had to see them,
Patrick.

Yeah, I saw those in my 3D artist magazine. It's awesome! It was only about $18 and it came with a full version of Carrara 6 Pro, free! It's a 3D texture, and animation etc. program worth over $400. But it doesn't do meshes. So I've downloaded a free full version of Daz studio and now Blender. I hope I can have some stuff up as soon as I get the hang of them. I'm really loving 3D modeling and whatnot, so glad my brother bought me the magazine. :)

In fact I think I'll write all of this in my journal.

I've been doing heaps of 3D stuff lately too. But every time I get a decent scene rendering I overload my processor...

I suppose that's what I get for trying to render around a million polygons on a 9 year old computer.

But I've just been using Z-Brush for sculpting, Blender for scenes/environments/games and I just got Cinema 4D and I haven't done anything with that yet.

OMIGOSH! You have Z-brush!!! I envy you. I don't know Cinema 4D though. Hey you know, 3ds Max is worth almost $4000! My laptop has been crashing heaps lately, the first time I rendered a massive picture it did it in a couple of seconds - but then I rendered it a second time and tried to exit it to cancel it...which I shouldn't have done 'cause then it froze. :(

So if you have been doing 3D stuff, why haven't we seen any of it up here?? Hmmm? Come on, chop chop. I want to know how much harder I have to try to be better than you and I can't compare unless I see something. :D

Cinema 4D and 3DS Max are competitors, but I think more people prefer 3DS Max. It's just that Cinema 4D is so much easier to use. (But Blender beats them both in terms of small learning curves).

If I can get a new CD burner or somehow fix the one I have now I might be able to get you Z-Brush... might.</>
